PPSD028
This course provides an opportunity to walk through Leave Accounting situations, including establishing employees who are new to the California Leave Accounting System (CLAS), non-qualifying pay periods, and retroactive leave benefit election changes. This course is held over two days, with a four-hour session each day, where you will have an opportunity to expand your knowledge of CLAS through the documenting and keying of transactions. Since this class provides a hands-on keying experience, participants need an SCO Mainframe log-on to fully participate. Participants are REQUIRED to have 3 months of keying experience and view all the CLAS prerequisite eLearning modules (approximately 113 minutes) provided in the confirmation email prior to attending class.

This course is a must for Personnel Specialists who need instructions in properly documenting Corrective Actions and Out-of-Sequence (O/S) PAR transactions. Personnel Specialists will be provided a step-by-step method of reconstructing Employment History (EH) for O/S transactions.
In-depth coverage of the Personnel Action Manual (PAM) Section 9 will be provided in the following areas:
• Corrects
• Voids
• Voids/Re-Enters
• Adding O/S Transactions
• Reconstructing EH
Through the use of the PAM and with a variety of comprehensive practical exercises and transaction situations, Personnel Specialists will be able to correctly determine the appropriate steps and procedures necessary to complete Corrective Action documentation.
Prerequisites
• PAR Documentation
• Four months experience preparing a variety of PAR Transactions
• Attendees will need to print the Corrective Actions workbook and job aids, provided prior to training
• Attendees must have their PAM or access online in order to attend the class

This course provides as introduction to the Fundamentals of Personnel. By viewing online modules and virtual class attendance, participants will accurately determine qualifying pay periods for full-time, part-time, and intermittent employees, using current rules and regulations. Regulations regarding sick leave and vacation accrual and usage will also be covered.
This two-hour virtual class is designed to cover topics introduced in the first three online modules: Introduction, Module 1 – Qualifying Pay Periods, and Module 2 – Sick Leave and Vacation. Participants are REQUIRED to complete the online modules prior to attending class.

This 3-hour webinar will aid statewide personnel specialists on the steps to prepare lump sum separations and avoid common errors. Webinar videos and SCO staff will guide participants on what to do, where to find tools and resources, and facilitate Q & A sessions. As an added benefit, participants will have access to SCO subject matter experts to help answer in-depth questions related to specific processes pertaining to lump sum deferral.

This course will help familiarize users with the utilization of the PIMS system as well as the Decentralized tools and introducing the Personnel Action Manual (PAM) Section 10, Decentralized Procedures. This course is intended for new and seasoned statewide Personnel Specialists and Analysts with access to the SCO Mainframe who view Employment History records and update Personnel Transactions in the PIMS system. This course is scheduled to be completed in three hours.
